Fancy Rat FAQs

Where should I buy my rats?

Your two main choices are a pet store or a breeder. If you choose to buy from a pet store, please be sure to check the living conditions of their animals first. Are they on clean bedding? Do they have food and water? Are the males and females living in separate cages? Do the animals seem healthy? If you can answer yes to these questions, then it is probably safe to purchase your rats from that store. If not, check somewhere else first. If you choose to buy from a breeder, the easiest way to find one in your area is to do a web search.

You can start here: Other Breeders

When choosing a breeder, you need to keep all of the previous questions in mind. Not all breeders are good breeders. Use your best judgment. Buying healthy, friendly rats in the first place will save you a lot of time and money in the long run.
